Hot Pink Frilly Bows or Baby Blue Nikes?!?!?

Butterflies were fluttering faster and faster in my stomach during the moments leading up to our doctor's appointment on Tuesday, July 20th. I couldn't sit still in the waiting room, I was on the verge of chitter chatting because of cold jitters from the AC being super low and trying my hardest to wait patiently until my name was called. I kept on making small talk with my hubby and momma who came along to hear first-hand the sex of baby BEE!!!! As we walk into the room, I quickly pop on the bed, pull my shirt up to show my baby bump and look at the radiologist specialist like "let's get this road on the show"! 5 minutes into the u/s the radiologist says, "well, I think it's a girl" and I say "what do you mean, you think?"! He said he wanted to finish performing the u/s before he determined the sex. Ugh, it felt like the longest 45 minutes, but soon after he checked the baby's organs, heart, femur bone, brain, little toes, and feet...the verdict was announced! Yet, there were lots of "double-checks", but the radiologist confirmed that it is certainly a LITTLE GIRL! Daddy's smile was ear to ear and his heart filled with more love in a matter of minutes. It feels so good to say she is OUR little princess!

I couldn't get out of my doctor's office any quicker. First stop to shop was Marshall's where we found lots of cute pink outfits, two of which daddy picked out and is so proud of, pink Nike bibs, and little pink oh-so soft socks. Second stop was the mall to find my diaper bag at Coach. Unfortunately, the one I wanted was sold out so we held off (not for too long, lol). Gymboree was next where we picked out the CUTEST one-piece bathing suit for next summer for only $5.00! I'm a bargain shopper, especially when hubby and the Oma to-be tags along. TJ Maxx came next. We found two other outfits for our sweet little baby girl that we can't wait to see her in! The three...I mean FOUR of us had a nice lunch at Chilli's where I ran into my good friend from high school, Christy Gwizdowski. She just had a baby girl almost a year ago...my how much we've grown! After lunch, we ran into Babies 'R Us for a quit pit stop and $26.00 later with only two beanies and an adorable pair of silver ballet shoes, I thought we were done for the day! I was exhausted. Being on my feet all day for hours on end, does a toll on a pregnant woman's body. Whew!

So here it is gals and guys ~ HOT PINK FRILLY BOWS for our little princess!

Photos of our day are forthcoming. XOXO!

The first "real" kicks! ~ 7/1/10

I'm on cloud nine right now...

Tonight was the very first night I felt the baby KICK! Lately, there has been lots of movement/waves, but actually feeling the baby kick me (gently 3 times in a row) is an INCREDIBLE feeling. The kicks weren't too strong, but gentle taps below my belly button and you could even see my belly slightly move. AHHHH-MAZING!

Family Vay-Cay to Sunset Beach, 6/19-6/25/10!

My brother in-law and sister in-law surprised my nephew, Brandon with a trip to Sunset Beach, North Carolina with all his uncle's and sister in-law's in celebration of his high school graduation. The trip was amazing especially being able to spend a week with your family. I've posted some of my favorite photos while vacationing....

17.5 and counting....

Hey fam and friends! How's everyone's summer going so far? Well, the start of our summer marked the half way point of our pregnancy and we are hanging in there! Not so thrilled about the storching 100 degree weather, but I'm keeping my cool and drinking plenty of water.

I'm hear to say that my 17.5 week check-up/wellness appointment was on June 17, 2010 and went very well as expected. Although, the morning of my appointment I became very nauseous, broke out in sweats and was literally sick to my stomach. No fun at all, and scared me. Luckily, once we arrived at my OB-GYN office, they were able to check for any other symptoms or problems and thank God, I was in the clear...and did I mention to you this was 2 days before my scheduled vacation to Myrtle Beach? My doc instructed me to drink plenty of clear fluids followed by eating bland food. If for some reason I wasn't able to hold anything down for 48 hours, my doc wanted me to schedule a follow-up appointment. It was either morning sickness, granted I never got in my first trimester or a 24 hour flu bug/virus. All is well now!

Minutes later, we were able to hear Baby B's heartbeat again. Hearing my doc say "well, the baby's heartbeat is healthy and strong" is great news and reassurance that everything is going to be alright. Oh how I love hearing his/her heartbeat. Knowing that a tiny person is growing inside of you is by far the most precious thing in this world as I'm sure all you mom's and dad's out there can attest to.

Next milestone is right around the corner on July 20 at 22 weeks! This is a very BIG day for Jonathan and I. It'll be our second to last ultrasound performed by a radiologist to find out Baby B's gender, along with my regular 4 week check-up! Votes are in and appear to be equally divided between a boy and a girl, so at this point - I'm lost for words, but that will change in a couple weeks! Bright pink or colbalt blue...which is it guys?

Until next time...xo, JB2!

Our Second Appointment, 5/24/10

Here we are at 14 weeks! The morning of Monday, 5/24 was a precious milestone in our pregnacy. Hearing the baby's heart beat was a sweet music tune, more like we were at a horse race listening to one galloping extremely fast.

We are so pleased to announce that baby Barb is doing very well, with a healthy heart beat of 150 beats per minute. And, so they say...the faster the heart rate, the more chance of it being a girl! It's an old wives tale, that we are trying very hard not to believe.

Our next (and third) appointment will be at the end of June for my 17.5 wellness checkup, to hear the baby's heart beat again and also go through some optional testing. Shortly thereafter, we will be back in our doctor's office finding out the gender! In turn, will then finally allow me to pick up odds and ends while I'm out shopping, as well as set our final plans for the nursey!

Happy Memorial weekend to you and your loved ones! Please continue to follow us through this incredible and memorable stage in our life. We love you!

Our First Appointment, 4/27/10

After weeks of keeping our big news a big secret from many of our friends, hubby and I were able to share our excitement with the entire world on April 27, 2010. Seeing our baby for the first time was an incredible feeling for us especially as first-time parents. Baby Barb is expected to join this world on November 24, 2010.

Our next appointment will be for my 14-week check up where we will be able to hear Baby Barb's heartbeat.

Answered Prayers....

The evening of March 25, 2010, our lives did a 360 degree turn and changed for the best. It was just the two of us for 8 amazing years, and 8 short months of wedded bliss. Now, a new chapter has begun with just the three of us (plus our poochie poo ~ Daisy)!

It was an unbelievable day for my husband and I as we've been "trying" to conceive for 5 months. After the 3rd month, we decided to stop "trying" and let God take this prayer in His own hands. We are firm believers that God was going to bless us with a bundle of joy when He believed the time was right. Sure enough, it didn't take too much longer for our prayers to be answered. This is our life journey and story of "Blessings of Baby Barb".

As I was approaching my 2 week late mark, I decided to take an at home pregnancy test. Knowing the type of person I am, there was no time for me to wait. Who could actually wait two more days while possibly being pregnant? My husband and mother both told me to hold off on taking one for a couple more days until the weekend hit. Well, that didn't happen. It was a Thursday evening when we got home from dinner with Jonathan's brother at On the Border and I quickly ran upstairs to take the test before Jonathan asked any questions. YAY! Seconds later, I saw a dark pink line and ANOTHER faint pink line. I knew then, there was no question that I was PREGNANT! I snuck the test behind my back and walked downstairs to surprise my hubby. He was straightening up our house while I interrupted him and said "I have something to show you". Whoop there it is!!!! In all honesty, hs heart was immediately filled with so much joy, but there was some doubt as well because we didn't know how to react to the faint line. I called my sister in-law, Rachel since my mother was no where to be found, and sure enough Rachel gave me the confirmation and satisfaction to set our worries aside, and there is no possibility of a positive - negative test...minutes later, my mother called and I shared the news with her! She was ecstatic and knew in her heart from that I was pregnant all along.

The next morning I decided to take another test and sure enough, it was another positive test. My husband and I were overjoyed and grateful that God gave us this gift of life....
